Here is some great news for all you astronomy fans out there. Our Aussie friends have launched a new astronomy podcast called AstroPodcast. In the first episode, Allison Reynolds (host) interviews asteroid-hunter Robert McNaught. McNaught has discovered 68 comets so far. McNaught shares his story of how he became interested in astronomy and how he detects new comets.
The podcast seeks out the human side of astronomy. As the podcast’s website explains, “So much of the cool stuff is hidden behind the dry science.” Reynolds hopes that the show will present astronomy in a way that anyone can appreciate. She hopes to share stories about the people involved in the discoveries taking place.
I enjoyed listening to the first episode which was released four days ago on March 13, 2012. The podcast is free and promises a wealth of insight into the study of the cosmos.
